Work Results
Step 1 - TUE 20230124 -
Arrived on site around 14:15.
Met Rila san and Ikuko san, and started prepping the devices, photographing and mounting the brackets (photos in job folder). Emailed to say work starting.
Updated rack diagram.
Mounted 2 new FortiGate 101F Firewall in Rack2 U37 (TOKFGT01-101F, S/N FG101FTK21022452) and U38 (TOKFGT02-101F S/N FG101FTK21022721), and the new OpenGear IM7216 (S/N 72162211196518) in Rack2 U39.
Screwed on two antennas on to the OpenGear, connecting to Cell (MAIN) AND GPS. Left long extension cable on top of OpenGear.
Coordinated with local team to switch the four active connections - Shimanaka, Primm, Sanders, Imaging port.
Plugged power cables into backs of devices and separated them between the two sides of the UPS, routing to either rack 1 or rack 3 backs.
Numbered patch cable ends 001, 002 etc with sharpie for better troubleshooting capability in future.
Plugged patch cables per TOK-CableMatrix Excel.
Orange cables from FW console ports to existing TOK-CAS1 were long enough and we ran them over the riser between rack 3 and 4, securing with some velcro tape.
Plugged power cables into PDUs, splitting across UPS1 and 2.
Powered on the 3 new devices. No obvious errors observed on front faces (LED, LCD).
Reported to local, then left site at 17:00.
Step 1b - WED 20230125 -
One cable was mis-connected so Shiori went on site from 13:00 to correct.
(New OpenGear not accessible. Network cable connected to Serial Port 1 rather than Network 1 on the back of the OpenGear. )
Additional problem of the Edge2 console cable having been disconnected to make room for one of the two new firewalls, so, Shiori connected the UTP from console to port 10 of the existing OpenGear in rack 4.
